This Life is Only the Beginning

The longer we live, we see that life gets harder not easier. There is a God-sent disillusionment that inevitably finds its way to us and we face it . If we do not know Jesus as Savior, a hopeless desperation can set in. As we go, relationships crumble, loved ones die, we age and change and begin to see that something is horribly wrong. This is not what life was meant to be. No matter how sweet and blessed a life, these harsh realities present themselves to every single one of us.

Because God has indeed set eternity in our hearts like the Bible tells us, facing the abrupt reality that this life is ending and all that is in it is as well, becomes inescapable. There is a stark contrast between what was put in our hearts by our Creator, namely eternity, and what we see in our day to day lives. Everything we see is ending as we see it. No matter how solid and comfortable and safe a life can be, in terms of family and purpose and assurance of joy and provision and enjoyment of life, it is always changing. Trials, surprises, failures, heartache, divisions are all painful reminders that nothing in this life stays the same or lasts forever.

God has used this rude awakening that everyone has to face to some degree, to press us to Him. “Look at Me!” He has said in essence all through the Word, “I am your God!”

We don’t naturally look at God. We are caught up in this testing ground of life on earth that God has used to redeem His own from Adam’s fall, which has caused all of the sadness and death. Sin is the reason for all the before mentioned agonies that belong to this life. I have seen however, that all these things are meant to turn our hearts to Jesus who has conquered death. He never changes and that is what the serenity in our hearts longs for. He is it.

If we are saved, then that eternity in our hearts that this life continually condradicts, is ours. God is forever. Everything of Him and in Him is forever. It will never decay or change or die. He said He will never forsake us. He won’t.

So we rest and leap for joy because the eternity in our hearts was not a lie. It wasn’t a silly hope that we need to accept was just a fantasy. It’s real and it is the only reality. Life hasn’t even begun for us as long as we are in these bodies and on this testing ground of this present life. There is hope!

What our hearts have always longed for, the love and safety and assurance that all the cherished sweet things given to us in family and loved ones, is forever. These things if redeemed by Jesus are forever and will never ever change or go away.

You haven’t even begun if you are in this body. Eternity really starts when you leave this old world and life behind and enter glory. Won’t you receive it! Just come to Jesus. He will deliver you and bring you this glorious eternal joy.He is preparing us for something so wonderful we can even fathom it. But our hearts know that this wonderful something waits for us if we will just turn to Him. Leave sin behind. Receive forgiveness and start your forever right now.

Bless His holy name.
